Year 5AG visit Blist Hill

On Monday 29th April, we visited Blist Hill Victorian Village. We first went into a Victorian grocers and saw some of the items they sold. A lot of us bought a bamboo stick which when we sucked, it tasted like liquorice! We then went into a Victorian Post Office and we found out that to send a telegram was 18 seconds quicker than a text message! We also learnt that the average household only earns around £40 a year, and to send a letter was cost by the word- this shocked everyone and even the teachers! We all loved the Victorian bakery and sweet shop and many of us tasted the white cob, strawberry bon bons and honey crunch biscuits! We had a great day exploring and learning a lot about how Victorians lived!
