Year 2SR visit Standon Bowers
Our Year 2 children had an unforgettable residential overnight stay at Standon Bowers, packed with adventure, challenge and plenty of fun. The experience began with orienteering and map reading, where the children developed their navigation skills and confidence in exploring the outdoors. They then worked in groups, focusing on key values such as teamwork, confidence, resilience, fun and safety throughout each activity.
One of the highlights was building bridges across a moat. The children designed and tested their creations by carefully walking across them—some more successfully than others, with a few splashes along the way! They also took on the challenge of rock climbing, showing determination and bravery as they scaled the climbing wall.
The outdoor experience continued with campfire cooking, where the children made their own bread and enjoyed toasting marshmallows together.
Another exciting activity involved a blindfolded obstacle course, where communication and trust were essential as one child guided their partner safely through the course.
In the evening, the children settled into dorms with their friends, sharing laughter and stories from the day. It was a fantastic experience that helped build independence, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories for all.
